Our Director of Corporate Finance plays an instrumental role in making this a reality and we believe this is a job unlike any other in local government. You will be responsible for ensuring that resources and funding are aligned to our strategic agenda, that we are collectively delivering on policy objectives and, through sound financial planning and management, we are delivering industry leading services for our residents.
As our Director of Corporate Finance, you will be expected to demonstrate experience of leading and developing a significant organisational function in a large and complex public sector body. You will be innovative, fleet of foot and lead on pieces of work that will shape future policy, not only in Westminster but also on a national scale.

You will be responsible for a wide range of services and leading a high performing, energetic team. You will lead our approach to commercial thinking and drive the development of commercial opportunities that shape the Council’s revenue budget for the future. Furthermore, you will be a key point of contact for many of our partners, including the Bi-Borough, driving our relationship with Hampshire County Council and the SAP Partnership, as well as maintaining and enhancing the relationships with our private sector partners. As a member of the council’s senior management team, you will contribute proactively to the collective leadership for the council, working collaboratively with Members, services across the council, partners and stakeholders to deliver the council’s objectives and priorities.
You will lead by example in modelling and embedding the council’s values and behaviours to help build a sustainable highly effective organisation and develop our reputation as a successful council delivering great value for its residents.
You will provide outstanding leadership and direction, driving service transformation and ensuring excellent joint working with Members and other stakeholders.
We are after an experienced and motivated finance professional who can demonstrate:
Substantial experience leading and developing a significant organisational function with comparable budgets and resources
Strong partnership skills and the ability to work productively across a complex policy and service environment
A proven record of success in leading and championing organisational and cultural change
Evidence of instigating and delivering transformation of financial services and developing the financial aspects of new models of service delivery
An ability to help shape future strategy and policy through the provision of specialist technical financial and commercial insight and knowledge
A commercially savvy approach and the ability to quickly recognise and take advantage of opportunities that will benefit the local community
A commitment to equality and diversity, both as a leader and a service deliverer, with an ability to demonstrate personal leadership on the importance of diversity
